McCain and Palin have simply reached back in history to use an old code word for black. It set whites apart from those deemed unAmerican and those who could not be trusted during the communism scare.
I was going to comment on this, but after reading this comment by another reader of this article I had to share this instead.
Shame on you, Mr. Diuguid, for perpetuating such nonsense. After reading your current and past articles, I cannot help but to see you as a bitter,
racist African-American man. Racism goes both ways, sir. For you to espouse
these racist views in a public forum, where people turn to you for a
balanced and informed perspective, on your reputation as an esteemed and
respected journalist is just irresponsible.
Any credibility that you may have had as a responsible journalist has been
dismantled in my view by your obvious disdain for "white" society as a
whole, and your willingness to let race trump any rational thought wherein
it concerns a candidate's ability, past and present associations, trust, and
policy platform.
Shame on you, Mr. Diuguid, for bowing to the race card, and for projecting
to the public and furthering the very thing that you would call racist of
"white" America.
Shame on you for abandoning your journalistic open mind and promoting the poison pen of fanatical conspiracy theorists.
I think your readers deserve an apology for your divisive and racist comments. You have embarrassed yourself and the Kansas City Star. Your atrocious commentary, as a result of the exposure by Drudge Report and now viewed by over 100,000 people, have cast doubt on the legitimacy of this newspaper and its reporters. The hundreds of comments after your article have shown to the world and your employers the close-minded race-baiting alleged reporter that you claim to be."
